The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis NetworkFAAN advocates for state and federal laws, policies, and regulations that can improve the lives of individuals affected by food allergy and anaphylaxis. It works with policymakers on federal, state, and local initiatives in such areas as food labeling, schools and camps, emergency medical services (911 personnel), restaurants, airlines. Action Opportunity: Help Pass FAAMA in 2009 FAAN is leading the effort to push the Senate to enact the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act (FAAMA) , which calls for voluntary national guidelines to help schools manage students affected by food allergy and anaphylaxis. Food Allergy ProjectThe Food Allergy Project is a nonprofit organization, building a coalition of concerned parents, researchers, educators and experts. The group has two primary goals: To increase the federal resources dedicated to food allergy research and to fund scientific studies that will lead to cure for food allergy. The Food Allergy Project has already committed more than $15 million to food allergy research and continues to support promising studies in search of a cure. Action Opportunity : Participate in a Survey In an effort to improve understanding of parents, physicians, and the general public, researchers and physicians at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago are conducting surveys to assess current food allergy knowledge, attitudes and beliefs.
